Resources

Useful information should answer a real question and make the next step clearer.

Senior Connections Canada is building a practical resource library for seniors, families and community partners. Start with the topic that sounds closest to what you need.

Good places to start

These are practical starting points from established local, provincial and federal organizations. Choose the one closest to your need; you do not have to work through the whole list.

I need local meals, rides or social support

Community Home Support – Lanark County offers programs including meals, transportation and social-wellbeing supports. Perth: 613-267-6400. Smiths Falls: 613-283-6745. Visit the official Community Home Support website.

I need home care or help understanding care options

Ontario Health atHome coordinates home and community care and long-term-care placement. Call 1-833-515-1234. Visit the official Ontario Health atHome website.

I do not know which community service to call

211 Ontario connects people with social services, programs and community supports. Dial 2-1-1, or visit 211 Ontario.

I want to check government benefits

Government of Canada Benefits Finder helps identify federal benefits and programs, including options for seniors, retirees and caregivers. Open the official Benefits Finder.

I need dementia or caregiver support

Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville provides information, education, support, counselling and First Link care navigation. Call 1-866-576-8556. Visit the local Alzheimer Society website.

I am worried about a scam or suspicious call

Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre publishes current fraud warnings and prevention guidance. If you believe you have been targeted by fraud, contact your financial institution when relevant, local police, and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. Read current fraud-protection guidance.

Resource details checked September 13, 2026. Services, eligibility and contact details can change; confirm current information with the organization.

How we will handle resource information

We will build this library in stages rather than wait until every topic is complete. Time-sensitive information will be reviewed and dated where practical, ordinary listings will not be presented as endorsements, and any Trusted Partner status will be shown separately.

Financial, legal and health information will remain general. When a decision needs professional advice, we will say so clearly.

Can’t find what you need?

Tell us what you are looking for. We will start with the most useful next step we can identify and, if that does not fit, help you find a sensible backup.
